EIC Mainport Rotterdam has a team of 45 voluntary guides. They are mostly former employees of the Rotterdam port and industrial area or people from the educational field. The guides assist students during their (bus) tour of the port. They talk about the past, present and future of the port. In addition to these ‘‘outside’’ guides are also ‘‘inside’’ guides. An ‘‘inside’’ guide provides details on the exhibition, helps students to answer questions. The quality and knowledge of the guides we keep in balance by monthly briefings and visits to companies and by reading a lot about the port. Also through a periodic interview with the guides, we keep an eye on the quality. A team of four consultants guides (volunteers) supports the EIC guides.

Interested of becoming a guide?

Interested in a volunteer job as a guide? Please contact Marianne van Gastel, 0181-296029, email: Guides come in as guides in training and after they have done well, and successfully completed the training program, the eventually will go on tours as an independent guide.

The EIC organizes unique bus excursions with visits to companies in the port and industrial area, view points, and a visit to the exposition of the EIC. Take a day off for a tour because the port is 45 kilometers long. Very popular is a trip to Maasvlakte 2 and the Future Land Information Centre, currently under construction on this new port area.
